Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces thoroughly for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
  • Apply various types of paint, varnishes, sealants, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment with high precision.
  • Execute decorative finishes and specialized paint techniques as required for specific architectural and design specifications.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality, ensuring even coats, clean lines, consistent texture, and adherence to project specifications and client expectations.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring proper cleaning, storage, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations on site, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople, site managers, and project managers to ensure seamless coordination and timely completion of projects.
  • Identify and address any imperfections or touch-up requirements post-application to deliver a flawless final product.
  • Safely erect and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment as needed for various work at height.
  • Provide accurate estimates for materials and time required for painting tasks when requested.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Painter in construction, maintenance, or residential renovation settings.
  • Proficiency in surface preparation techniques, including scraping, sanding, caulking, and minor plaster repairs.
  • Skilled in applying various paint types and finishes with precision using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a fast-paced team.
  • Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid UK driving license with a clean record.
  • Thorough understanding of different paint materials, their properties, and appropriate application methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Painting and Decorating.
  • Experience with specialist coatings, decorative finishes, or wallpaper hanging.
  • Possession of a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
  • First Aid certification.
