Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to begin a career as a Painter Helper with Hiring.zycto. As a Painter Helper, you will play a crucial role in our painting projects across Guildwood and the greater Toronto area, supporting our skilled painters and ensuring that every job is completed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Your day will be dynamic, involving a variety of tasks from preparing surfaces to cleaning up. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience, learning professional painting techniques, safety protocols, and the intricacies of different materials and finishes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, has an eye for detail, and is committed to contributing to a visually appealing end product. No prior painting experience is strictly required, but any general labor experience will be considered an asset. We are ready to train the right candidate from the ground up, providing all the necessary tools and guidance for your success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare work areas by moving furniture, covering surfaces with drop cloths or tape, and protecting adjacent areas.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for painting, including washing, scraping, sanding, and patching cracks or holes.
  • Assist lead painters with mixing paints, carrying supplies, and setting up equipment like ladders and scaffolding.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of waste and cleaning of tools and brushes.
  • Perform basic painting tasks under supervision, such as priming, minor touch-ups, or applying initial coats.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines on job sites to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials and equipment from vehicles.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a general labor or construction-related role.
  • A valid G class driver's license and reliable transportation to various job sites across Toronto.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools (e.g., sanders).
  • First Aid and CPR certification (will provide training if needed).
