Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on statutes, case law, and regulations relevant to ongoing litigation.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
  • Manage and organise extensive case files, evidence, and discovery materials, ensuring easy accessibility and compliance.
  • Prepare court bundles, witness statements, affidavits, and exhibits for hearings and trials.
  • Liaise with clients, witnesses, experts, and court staff to gather information and schedule appointments.
  • Summarise depositions, interrogatories, and other discovery responses to identify key information.
  • Maintain accurate records of billable hours and case progress using our case management systems.
  • Support solicitors in court, including preparing presentations and managing documents.
  • Stay updated with changes in legal procedures, relevant legislation, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal, particularly in litigation or court preparation.
  • Exceptional research skills with proficiency in legal databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Superior organisational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
  • Understanding of Scottish legal procedures and court rules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal qualification from an accredited institution (e.g., Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Legal Services, Paralegal Diploma).
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms.
  • Familiarity with case management software.
  • Knowledge of specific areas of law relevant to the firm's practice (e.g., civil litigation, family law, criminal law).
