Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking highly skilled and compassionate Paramedics to join our Emergency Medical Response team in Streatham, London. This is a crucial role within our fast-paced and dynamic service, responding to emergency calls across a diverse urban landscape. As a Paramedic, you will be the frontline of medical care, responsible for assessing, treating, and transporting patients suffering from a wide range of medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. Your expertise will be vital in situations that demand immediate decision-making, clinical excellence, and exceptional communication skills. You will operate independently or as part of a crew, utilising advanced life support techniques, administering medications, and performing critical interventions to stabilise patients before transport to appropriate medical facilities.

This role is not just about medical treatment; it’s about providing reassurance, maintaining calm in stressful situations, and acting as a vital link between patients, their families, and the wider healthcare system. You will navigate complex urban environments, working closely with other emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade, to ensure coordinated and effective responses. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls, assessing scenes and patient conditions.
  • Provide advanced life support (ALS) including airway management, cardiac arrest management, and trauma care.
  • Administer emergency medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as ECG interpretation, blood glucose monitoring, and capnography.
  • Safely extricate, stabilise, and transport patients to appropriate medical facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient care records and incident reports.
  • Operate and maintain specialist emergency medical equipment and vehicles.
  • Work collaboratively with other emergency services and healthcare professionals.
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in ongoing training, continuous professional development, and clinical audits.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and professional standards of practice.

Required Skills

  • HCPC registered Paramedic with no restrictions on practice.
  • Full UK driving licence with C1 category (or equivalent) for emergency vehicle driving.
  • Proven experience in an emergency medical services environment.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to manage diverse situations.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments.
  • Sound knowledge of emergency medical protocols, procedures, and pharmacology.
  • Commitment to patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science or equivalent.
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent trauma certification.
  • Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Experience with advanced extrication techniques.
  • Local knowledge of London's geography and road networks.
