Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and safely to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions rapidly and accurately.
  • Administer pre-hospital emergency medical care, including advanced life support (ALS) procedures, medication administration, and airway management, in accordance with established protocols and medical director orders.
  • Operate and maintain emergency vehicles and medical equipment, ensuring readiness for all calls and adherence to safety standards.
  • Document patient care observations, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly and accurately in electronic patient care reports (ePCRs) and other required forms.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, medical professionals, and other emergency responders.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently to appropriate medical facilities, providing continuous care and monitoring during transit.
  • Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance skills, knowledge, and clinical proficiency.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, appearance, and adhere strictly to all company policies, ethical standards, and HIPAA regulations.

Required Skills

  • Current Paramedic certification in Kentucky (or ability to obtain before start date).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire).
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and insurable status.
  • Ability to lift and move patients and equipment weighing up to 125 pounds with assistance, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient interaction and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an EMT or in a related healthcare support role, demonstrating foundational patient care skills.
  • Familiarity with local geography and medical facilities in the Louisville area.
  • Proficiency with electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community) is a significant advantage.
