Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently and safely, often under stressful conditions.
  • Assess patient conditions, conduct thorough medical history inquiries, and accurately evaluate injury or illness severity.
  • Administer advanced life support (ALS) procedures, including IV insertion, medication administration, airway management, and cardiac monitoring.
  • Operate and maintain emergency vehicles, medical equipment, and communication devices in optimal working order.
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care during transport to appropriate medical facilities.
  • Accurately document all patient care reports, medical assessments, and treatments provided in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, their families, medical personnel, and other emergency service providers.
  • Adhere strictly to all medical protocols, ethical guidelines, safety standards, and provincial regulations.
  • Participate in mandatory continuous professional development and training initiatives to maintain and enhance skills.
  • Ensure the readiness of ambulance and equipment for immediate deployment at all times.

Required Skills

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Professional Paramedic Diploma or Degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Class 4A (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Proven ability to perform calmly and effectively under pressure in emergency situations
  • Exceptional diagnostic, clinical assessment, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and French preferred)
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and move patients and equipment safely
  • Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic record-keeping systems
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and patient care protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of Paramedicine experience in an urban or high-volume emergency setting
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification
  • Experience with advanced medical equipment and evolving medical technology
  • Bilingualism (French and English) highly preferred for effective communication in Quebec
  • Experience in community paramedicine or public health initiatives
  • Strong collaborative and teamwork orientation with other emergency service personnel
