Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our growing team in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and dressing.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Document patient information, observations, and care provided accurately and timely in electronic health records.
- Assist with patient transport within the facility for appointments, tests, or discharge.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing linens.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in various clinical procedures and tasks as delegated.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests, ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Patient Care Technician, Healthcare Assistant, or similar role (minimum 12 months).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
- Ability to monitor vital signs and basic patient care procedures.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality regulations (e.g., GDPR, Caldicott Principles).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Previous experience in an acute care or long-term care setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
