Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our growing team in Cheetham Hill, Manchester. Your role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and contributing to a clean and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and dressing.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Document patient information, observations, and care provided accurately and timely in electronic health records.
  • Assist with patient transport within the facility for appointments, tests, or discharge.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing linens.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in various clinical procedures and tasks as delegated.
  • Respond promptly to patient calls and requests, ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
  • Adhere strictly to all infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Patient Care Technician, Healthcare Assistant, or similar role (minimum 12 months).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
  • Ability to monitor vital signs and basic patient care procedures.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills for documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality regulations (e.g., GDPR, Caldicott Principles).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Previous experience in an acute care or long-term care setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
