Job Description

This role demands meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation. The Payroll Administrator at Hiring.zycto will be an integral part of our finance team, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our diverse workforce across Canada. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from your home office while maintaining strong connections with your team through virtual collaboration tools.

You will manage the end-to-end payroll cycle, from inputting employee data and processing hours to calculating deductions, remittances, and year-end reporting. Your expertise will directly impact employee satisfaction and contribute to the smooth financial operations of the company. We are looking for a proactive individual who can identify efficiencies, troubleshoot discrepancies, and stay updated on the latest payroll compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on time, including salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll legislation, including tax, EI, CPP, WSIB, and other statutory deductions.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and changes to employee information.
  • Prepare and submit payroll remittances to relevant government agencies and third-party vendors.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and HR departments.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with year-end payroll procedures, including T4s and other annual reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll-related matters, including new hires, terminations, and benefits administration.
  • Participate in payroll audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll administration, specifically with Canadian payroll.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, QuickBooks Payroll).
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, including federal and provincial tax laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical aptitude.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience with a multi-province payroll environment.
  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a remote team environment.
