Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a multi-site workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Process new starters, leavers, salary changes, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), and other payroll adjustments.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, including PAYE, NIC, and pension contributions.
- Reconcile payroll data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless information flow and alignment of payroll processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices, advising on necessary policy changes.
- Generate comprehensive payroll reports for internal analysis and external audits.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Payroll Analyst or in a similar payroll position for at least 3 years.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NIC, and statutory payments.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, ADP, IRIS) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent numerical accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) qualification or working towards it.
- Experience with an integrated HR/Payroll system.
- Familiarity with pension scheme administration (e.g., auto-enrolment).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume payroll environment.
