Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our fully remote team, supporting our operations from the comfort of your home base in Sunnylea, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule, including salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, commissions, and expense reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll regulations, including income tax, EI, CPP, WSIB, and other statutory deductions.
  • Manage and maintain employee payroll records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) for employees leaving the company.
  • Reconcile payroll GL accounts and prepare various payroll reports for management and accounting purposes.
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and other payroll-related issues promptly and professionally.
  • Administer year-end processes, including T4s, T4As, and other annual reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other HR systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the payroll function.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in payroll processing in Canada.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation (e.g., ESA, Income Tax Act).
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Ceridian Dayforce, ADP Workforce Now, QuickBooks Payroll).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification, such as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP).
  • Experience with multi-provincial payroll processing.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and their integration with payroll.
  • Experience working in a fully remote or hybrid team setting.
