Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively searching for an empathetic, skilled, and highly motivated Pediatric Nurse to become a vital member of our full-time nursing team in Port Union, Toronto. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive, compassionate, and specialized nursing care to our youngest patients, from infancy through adolescence. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accurate dosages and patient safety.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical information, promptly reporting changes to the medical team.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, medication management, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and individualize patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and child-friendly environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to pediatric patients and their families, especially during stressful times.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current with pediatric nursing best practices.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and their families.

Required Skills

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in pediatric nursing in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency in pediatric assessment, medication administration, and emergency care.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills for interacting with children and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certification in Pediatric Nursing (e.g., PNC(C)).
  • Experience with child life principles and family-centered care models.
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to the diverse Toronto community.
  • Experience in a specialized pediatric unit (e.g., ICU, Oncology, ED).
