Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive periodontal examinations, accurate diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform a full scope of periodontal procedures, including scaling and root planing, osseous surgery, soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening, and dental implant placement.
- Collaborate effectively with general dentists, hygienists, and other specialists to ensure seamless, integrated patient care.
- Educate patients thoroughly on their oral health conditions, treatment options, and preventative measures.
- Maintain meticulous patient records, adhering to all professional and ethical standards.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in periodontology and dental technology through continuous professional development.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal regulations, as well as practice policies and procedures.
- Participate in case reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited university.
- Post-graduate specialty training in Periodontology from an accredited program.
- Valid specialty license to practice Periodontology in Ontario.
- Current registration in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO).
- Current CPR and relevant emergency certifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy and dental implantology.
- Exceptional diagnostic capabilities and treatment planning skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centric approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship or board certification in Periodontology.
- Experience with digital dentistry platforms and intraoral scanning technology.
- Proficiency in sedation techniques (e.g., nitrous oxide, oral sedation).
- Active participation in professional dental associations and societies.
- Bilingualism (English and another language commonly spoken in the community).
