Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, dressing).
- Provide mobility support, safe transfers, and ambulation assistance.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Administer medication reminders as per care plan and provincial guidelines.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, laundry, and maintain a tidy living environment.
- Monitor and report changes in client’s physical, emotional, or mental status to supervisors.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere.
- Assist with errands and appointments as needed.
- Document care provided accurately and maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
Required Skills
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program from a recognized institution OR actively enrolled in a relevant healthcare program.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience (volunteer or paid) in a caregiving role.
- Knowledge of common chronic conditions and their management.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to speak multiple languages (e.g., French, Arabic).
