Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications, ensuring patient safety and strict adherence to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Provide comprehensive medication counselling to patients, advising on proper use, potential side effects, and safe storage practices.
  • Conduct final accuracy checks on dispensed medicines before supply to patients, upholding the highest standards of quality.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy stock levels, including efficient ordering, secure receiving, and appropriate storage of medicines.
  • Participate in the provision of advanced and enhanced pharmacy services as appropriate, under the supervision of senior pharmacists.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records, ensuring full compliance with data protection regulations and confidentiality protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and team members to optimize patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Stay updated with new drug information, relevant regulations, and professional practice standards through continuous learning.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services and patient care initiatives, embracing innovation.

Required Skills

  • Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree or equivalent accredited qualification.
  • Provisional or full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) upon commencement of employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach and empathy.
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in all dispensing and advisory tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for community pharmacy and patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience gained during a pre-registration year in a community pharmacy setting.
  • Familiarity with common pharmacy dispensing software systems.
  • Basic understanding of NHS pharmacy contracts and services.
