Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and accurate dispensing of prescriptions.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy stock levels, including ordering, receiving, storing, and rotating medications.
  • Ensure all dispensed medications are correctly labelled and packaged according to legal and professional standards.
  • Process patient prescriptions, manage confidential patient records, and handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and empathetic customer service, addressing patient queries and escalating clinical questions to the pharmacist as necessary.
  • Undertake general administrative duties, including filing, accurate data entry into pharmacy systems, and maintaining a clean and organised dispensary environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, operational procedures, and relevant pharmaceutical legislation and guidelines.
  • Support the wider pharmacy team in various tasks to ensure efficient and uninterrupted daily operations.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance professional skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a pharmacy or similar healthcare setting, with an understanding of dispensing procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and experience with pharmacy dispensing software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as a vital part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • A compassionate, patient-focused approach and a strong desire to help others.
  • Thorough understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Previous experience with automated or robotic dispensing systems.
  • Current First Aid qualification.
  • Familiarity with common pharmaceutical terminology and drug classifications.
