Key Responsibilities
- Process and prepare prescription orders accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies to minimize waste.
- Assist patients with prescription pick-ups, answer general inquiries, and provide excellent customer service.
- Perform medication compounding as required, adhering to strict safety and quality protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Process payments and manage cash register operations.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal pharmacy regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Educate patients on proper medication usage and storage when appropriate and directed by the pharmacist.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a retail or community pharmacy setting.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology, drug dosages, and compounding techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) certification with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) or eligibility for registration.
- Experience with Kroll or similar pharmacy management software.
- Familiarity with Canadian healthcare regulations and pharmacy practices.
- Multilingual abilities are an asset, given Toronto's diverse population.
