Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Accurately identify patients and label specimens according to established protocols.
- Ensure proper handling, processing, and transportation of collected samples.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Adhere strictly to infection control procedures and universal precautions.
- Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients regarding procedures.
- Monitor patient reactions and respond appropriately to adverse events.
- Document all collection procedures and patient information accurately in relevant systems.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage and maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Required Skills
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (e.g., CPT, RPT)
- Proven experience in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
- Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS)
