Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Photojournalist to join our dynamic media team in Edenbridge-Humber Valley, Toronto. This full-time, on-site role calls for a visually driven storyteller with a keen eye for detail, an unwavering commitment to journalistic integrity, and a passion for capturing the essence of diverse communities and events. As a Photojournalist, you will be on the front lines, tasked with visually reporting on breaking news, major cultural happenings, sporting events, political developments, and compelling human interest stories that shape public discourse across the Greater Toronto Area.

You will be responsible for conceptualizing, shooting, and producing high-quality photographic and video content that not only informs but also engages and resonates deeply with our audience. This requires not just technical prowess with professional-grade camera equipment and advanced editing software, but also a deep understanding of visual narrative, composition, and lighting. You’ll work closely with our team of reporters and editors, translating written stories into powerful visual essays, ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and adherence to ethical guidelines in all your work.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses an innate ability to anticipate photographic opportunities, and can adapt quickly to unpredictable situations. You’ll often find yourself working independently, requiring strong self-motivation and organizational skills, but also collaborating effectively within a team structure. Your assignments will take you across Toronto, often demanding flexibility in your schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to cover events as they unfold. Beyond capturing stunning images, you will also be expected to conduct brief on-site interviews, gather contextual information, and write concise, accurate captions that complement your visuals.

We are looking for someone who doesn’t just take pictures but tells stories through their lens, someone who can find the extraordinary in the ordinary, and bring complex narratives to life with sensitivity and impact. This role is crucial to our mission of delivering timely, impactful, and visually rich journalistic content to our readers and viewers. If you are a seasoned professional ready to make a significant visual contribution to a leading media organization, we encourage you to apply. Your ability to connect with subjects, capture authentic moments, and convey powerful messages through your photography will be key to your success in this vital role.
