Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Policy Advisor – Legal to join our dynamic team in Runnymede-Bloor West Village, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on existing and proposed legislation, regulations, and policy frameworks.
  • Provide expert legal advice and recommendations on policy development, implementation, and review processes.
  • Draft, review, and edit a variety of policy documents, briefing notes, reports, and legal opinions.
  • Identify and assess legal risks associated with policy proposals and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Engage with internal departments and external stakeholders to gather input, build consensus, and communicate policy implications.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes at local, provincial, and federal levels, advising on their impact.
  • Support the development of communication strategies for new policies and legislative changes.
  • Assist in the preparation for consultations, public hearings, and other policy-related forums.
  • Contribute to training and knowledge-sharing initiatives on legal and policy matters within the organization.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in legal practice, policy development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Canadian administrative law, public law, and legislative drafting principles.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough legal research and synthesize findings effectively.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a government agency, non-profit organization, or a highly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with policy analysis frameworks and program evaluation methodologies.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
