Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the loading and unloading of vessels, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational schedules.
  • Manage the efficient movement and storage of goods within the port warehouse facilities, optimizing space and accessibility.
  • Operate various port equipment and machinery safely and proficiently, including forklifts, cranes (where certified), and other cargo handling gear.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing cargo, documenting any damages or discrepancies accurately.
  • Collaborate with stevedores, customs agents, and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant cargo processing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain precise records of all goods handled, utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations across all dock and warehouse operations.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions to minimize delays and enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare daily operational reports and communicate status updates to management and relevant stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in port operations, logistics, or warehouse management.
  • Proven ability to operate heavy machinery and cargo handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, reach stackers).
  • Strong understanding of port safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced outdoor and indoor environment, often under varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications for operating port machinery (e.g., crane operator license).
  • Vocational training or a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Experience with containerized cargo operations and bulk handling.
  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
  • First Aid and health & safety certifications.
