Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptionally skilled and visionary Principal Civil Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to join our dynamic team in Toronto. This pivotal role demands a seasoned leader capable of overseeing the full lifecycle of complex infrastructure projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and project close-out. You will be instrumental in delivering cutting-edge solutions for a diverse portfolio, including transportation networks, municipal services, urban development, and public utilities. As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship to junior engineers, and strategic guidance, ensuring projects adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage large-scale civil infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Provide expert technical guidance and oversight for design, analysis, and engineering calculations across various infrastructure disciplines (e.g., roads, bridges, drainage, water/wastewater).
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact and ensuring client satisfaction through effective communication and project delivery.
- Mentor, coach, and develop a team of civil engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and professional growth.
- Prepare comprehensive project proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, monitoring financial performance and project progress.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and technical integrity.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and contractors to achieve integrated project solutions.
- Contribute to business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities and assisting in securing new projects.
- Implement and promote best practices in project management, sustainable design, and risk management.
Required Skills
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario, or eligible for immediate registration.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in civil engineering with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in the design and management of complex urban infrastructure, including transportation, municipal services, or utilities.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, stormwater modeling software).
- Strong understanding of relevant Canadian and Ontario engineering standards, codes, and environmental regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, project management, and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Track record of successful client interaction and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, P3).
- Familiarity with public sector procurement processes in Ontario.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and practices (e.g., LEED accreditation).
- Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software for infrastructure components.
