Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Developer – Industrial to join our dynamic team in Downtown Edmonton. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and optimization of robust industrial products that cater to critical sectors such as manufacturing, heavy industry, and automation. You will be instrumental in transforming conceptual ideas into market-ready solutions, working through every stage of the product lifecycle from initial research and prototyping to testing and deployment. As a Product Developer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, project managers, and sales professionals, to ensure product feasibility, manufacturability, and market alignment. Your expertise will be crucial in conducting thorough market research to identify emerging trends and customer needs, translating these insights into detailed product specifications and technical requirements. You will be expected to leverage advanced CAD software for design, perform FEA simulations to validate structural integrity, and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full product development lifecycle for industrial solutions, from conceptualization to launch.
- Conduct comprehensive market research and competitive analysis to identify product opportunities and user needs.
- Translate product requirements into detailed technical specifications, design documents, and engineering drawings.
- Design and develop mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete product systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Perform engineering analysis, including FEA, to validate design integrity and performance.
- Build and test prototypes, iteratively refining designs based on feedback and performance data.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective production.
- Manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), documentation, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical expertise and constructive feedback.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and industry standards relevant to industrial product development.
- Work with quality assurance to define testing protocols and ensure product reliability and compliance with safety standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial product development or mechanical design.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of physical products.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
- Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, CSA, UL).
- Experience in industrial automation, robotics, or heavy machinery sectors.
- P.Eng. designation or working towards it.
