Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and tracking of construction projects from inception to completion.
- Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure project objectives are met.
- Manage requests for information (RFIs) and submittals, ensuring timely responses and proper documentation.
- Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and assist with budget control and financial reporting.
- Coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, subcontractors, and material suppliers.
- Monitor site progress, implement rigorous quality control measures, and ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
- Identify and proactively resolve technical, logistical, and operational issues that arise on-site.
- Assist in project close-out procedures, including final inspections, punch list completion, and handover documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and relevant industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Project Engineer or a similar project-focused role in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard office suites.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, building codes, and health and safety regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proven problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities in a construction context.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites within the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering or construction management discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards professional accreditation.
- Proficiency with BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D) for advanced project visualization and coordination.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification demonstrating a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Specific experience with diverse project types, such as commercial, residential, infrastructure, or stadia developments.
- Familiarity with local Leeds-area suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
