Job Description
Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and analytical Project Estimator with a strong focus on cost evaluation to join our dynamic team in Blackhall, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review tender documents, blueprints, specifications, and other related materials to understand project scope and requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk analysis and identify potential cost-saving opportunities or financial challenges.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favourable terms.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive database of historical cost data, pricing, and supplier information.
- Present clear and concise cost estimates and financial reports to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure alignment on project budgets and schedules.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide expert advice on cost implications and budget management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Project Estimator, preferably in construction or a related industry.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, Causeway) and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Sound understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
- Experience with various project types (commercial, residential, infrastructure).
