Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail onto and off aircraft, adhering to weight and balance guidelines.
  • Operate ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, baggage carts, belt loaders, and aircraft steps in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Guide aircraft to and from parking positions using standardized marshalling hand signals.
  • Place and remove chocks, cones, and ground power units (GPU) according to safety protocols.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation checks of all assigned ground support equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all airline, airport, and company safety procedures and regulations at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with flight crews, dispatchers, and fellow team members using two-way radios and other communication tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the airport ramp and in equipment storage areas.
  • Assist with other general ground handling duties as required to support efficient airport operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy luggage and cargo (up to 70 lbs regularly) and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work effectively and remain focused in a fast-paced, outdoor environment, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork and verbal communication skills to coordinate with diverse groups.
  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role, outdoor work, or a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with airport operations or aviation industry terms (asset, not required).
