Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and implement a diverse portfolio of recreational programs and events for all ages within the Cedarvale-Humewood community.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for new recreational offerings.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor part-time staff and volunteers for various programs and events.
  • Manage program budgets, procure supplies, and maintain accurate records of participation and expenses.
  • Collaborate with local schools, community groups, businesses, and government agencies to enhance program reach and impact.
  • Promote programs through various channels including social media, flyers, local media, and community outreach efforts.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to safety regulations and organizational policies, including managing risk assessments.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through feedback collection and data analysis, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Handle inquiries from community members regarding programs, registrations, and general recreational information.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on program outcomes, participation rates, and community engagement metrics.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in recreation program development and coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute community events and programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven ability to engage and motivate volunteers and participants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a community-based or non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with the Cedarvale-Humewood community and its demographics.
  • Additional certifications in specialized recreation areas (e.g., specific sports, arts, wellness disciplines).
  • Experience with recreation management software or registration systems.
