Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, accurate medication administration, meticulous wound care, and other therapeutic interventions, strictly adhering to professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team, ensuring holistic and patient-centered approaches to optimize outcomes.
  • Monitor and meticulously document patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatments, promptly reporting any significant changes or adverse reactions to the attending physician to facilitate timely intervention.
  • Educate patients and their families comprehensively on health conditions, medication management, self-care techniques, and discharge instructions to promote successful recovery and long-term health maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and confidential patient records, ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory requirements, professional guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress, refine care planning, and coordinate discharge planning, fostering a truly collaborative and integrated care environment.
  • Strictly adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to ensure a safe and sterile environment for patients, visitors, and all healthcare staff.
  • Act as a compassionate and effective patient advocate, ensuring their rights are respected and their needs are met throughout every stage of their care journey.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of new nursing staff and students, contributing positively to a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and adept problem-solving abilities in managing complex patient situations and responding effectively to emergencies.

Required Skills

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute care or similar fast-paced setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture, IV insertion, and accurate medication administration techniques.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with a patient-centered approach.
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and calmly in a demanding and dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation and information retrieval.
  • Unwavering commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and delivery of high-quality care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with specialized patient populations (e.g., medical-surgical, critical care, emergency).
  • Additional certifications relevant to nursing specialty (e.g., CNA certifications).
  • Fluency in a second language, particularly those common in the diverse Toronto area (e.g., Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, Punjabi, Tagalog).
