Job Description

As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our therapists (Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists) in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. You will be instrumental in implementing treatment plans, assisting patients with therapeutic exercises, and ensuring a comfortable and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists in implementing treatment programs.
  • Guide and supervise patients through prescribed exercises and activities, ensuring proper technique and safety.
  • Prepare treatment areas, maintain equipment, and ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records under supervision.
  • Monitor patients' progress and report observations to the supervising therapist.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families on exercises and home care instructions under the guidance of a therapist.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for all patients.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and organizational policies.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong empathy and a genuine desire to help others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment or completion of relevant post-secondary courses (e.g., Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Personal Support Worker).
  • Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to Toronto's diverse population.
