As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in our multidisciplinary team, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of responsibilities, including administering oxygen therapy, managing mechanical ventilation, performing pulmonary function tests, and educating patients and their families on disease management and prevention strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Administering therapeutic gases, humidification, and aerosol therapies.
  • Initiating and managing mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation (NIV).
  • Performing diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function tests.
  • Assessing patients' respiratory status, charting observations, and adjusting therapy as needed.
  • Educating patients and their families on respiratory conditions, medication usage, and self-care techniques.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop and review patient care plans.
  • Responding to respiratory emergencies and assisting in resuscitation efforts.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting respiratory equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Adhering to all relevant clinical guidelines, policies, and professional standards.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Demonstrable experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.
  • Proficiency in administering various respiratory therapies and managing ventilators.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking in clinical situations.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
  • Specialist training or certification in specific areas such as sleep medicine or pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a cohesive team.
