Key Responsibilities

  • Meticulously set up and prepare the dining area, ensuring cleanliness, order, and adherence to fine dining presentation standards.
  • Warmly greet and seat guests, presenting menus and explaining daily specials with expert knowledge of ingredients and preparation.
  • Provide detailed descriptions of menu items, including daily specials, and offer professional recommendations for food and wine pairings.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders using the restaurant's Point-of-Sale (POS) system and communicate effectively with the kitchen.
  • Serve food and beverages with impeccable timing, presentation, and etiquette, adhering to fine dining service protocols.
  • Anticipate guest needs and monitor their satisfaction throughout their dining experience, proactively addressing any concerns.
  • Clear tables efficiently and reset for subsequent guests according to established fine dining procedures.
  • Process payments accurately and handle cash, credit card, and other transactions responsibly and securely.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of the restaurant's evolving menu, extensive wine list, and ongoing promotions.
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, sommeliers, and other front-of-house team members to ensure seamless service.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations.
  • Upsell specials, premium items, and additional courses when appropriate, enhancing the guest experience.
  • Assist with inventory management and stock rotation of bar and dining essentials.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Waiter/Waitress in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
  • Exceptional knowledge of food and beverage service, including advanced understanding of wine, spirits, and cocktail preparation.
  • Outstanding customer service and refined interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Ability to work efficiently, gracefully, and under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to articulate information clearly and courteously.
  • Impeccable personal presentation, grooming, and adherence to hygiene standards.
  • Proficiency in handling cash and processing electronic payments accurately.
  • Excellent memory for guest preferences, special requests, and order details.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certification.
  • Knowledge of a second language, particularly French, Italian, or Spanish.
  • Extensive experience with fine dining specific Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
  • Sommelier certification (e.g., WSET Level 2 or higher) or demonstrable advanced wine knowledge.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional service achievements or guest testimonials from previous roles.
