Key Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate, and commission industrial robotic systems and associated automation equipment.
- Perform routine preventive and predictive maintenance on robots to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues on industrial robots.
- Program and teach robot paths, points, and sequences using various robot controller interfaces.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize robot performance and integrate new functionalities.
- Provide technical support and training to clients on robot operation, safety, and basic troubleshooting.
- Document all maintenance activities, service reports, and system performance metrics accurately.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Travel to client sites within the Greater Toronto Area and occasionally across Canada for service calls and installations.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Robotics Technician in an industrial setting.
- Proficiency with major industrial robot brands (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots).
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens).
- Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and diagnostic reasoning.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various client sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Robotics, Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
- Familiarity with HMI programming and integration.
- Welding or fabrication experience is an asset.
- Relevant industry certifications for specific robot platforms.
- Experience in the automotive, manufacturing, or logistics sectors.
