Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and dedicated Roof Installer specializing in Metal & Wood Roof Assembly to join our growing team in Wandsworth, London. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with proven experience in diverse roofing materials and techniques who is committed to delivering superior craftsmanship and upholding the highest safety standards. As a key member of our installation crew, you will be responsible for the precise fitting and secure installation of various metal and wood roofing systems on both residential and commercial projects across London.
Your daily tasks will involve detailed preparation of roof surfaces, careful handling and cutting of materials such as copper, zinc, steel, aluminium, and traditional wood shingles or shakes. You will be adept at measuring, cutting, shaping, and installing roofing components, ensuring watertight and aesthetically pleasing finishes that meet our stringent quality specifications and building codes. This role demands a strong understanding of roof structures, waterproofing methods, insulation techniques, and ventilation systems specific to metal and wood applications. You will operate a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently, often working at heights and in varying weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and replace various metal roofing systems (e.g., standing seam, corrugated, tile) and wood roofing systems (e.g., shingles, shakes).
- Prepare roof surfaces by removing old materials and ensuring a clean, level, and structurally sound base.
- Measure, cut, and shape roofing materials accurately using hand and power tools.
- Install underlayment, flashing, vents, and other accessories to ensure a watertight and durable roof.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant building codes and regulations.
- Inspect finished roofs to ensure quality, structural integrity, and compliance with project specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades on site.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
- Troubleshoot and resolve roofing issues efficiently and effectively.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional conduct on job sites.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in roof installation, specifically with metal and wood roofing materials.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools common to roofing (e.g., shears, brakes, saws, nail guns).
- Strong understanding of roofing principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent physical stamina, agility, and ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Roofing Occupations.
- CSCS card.
- Experience with specialist metal roofing techniques (e.g., zinc, copper cladding).
- Knowledge of various insulation and ventilation systems.
- First Aid certification.
