Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and meticulously maintain various types of roofing systems, with a particular focus on metal and wood assemblies, strictly adhering to project specifications and all relevant building codes.
- Prepare roof surfaces thoroughly by expertly removing old roofing materials, meticulously cleaning, and executing all necessary preliminary repairs.
- Accurately measure and precisely cut roofing materials to fit specific areas, ensuring optimal material utilization and seamless installation.
- Operate a wide range of hand and power tools safely and with maximum efficiency, including, but not limited to, nail guns, saws, and advanced measuring equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices on all job sites without exception.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with other team members, project managers, and external contractors to ensure the timely and successful completion of all projects.
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished roofs to confirm quality, identify any potential defects, and perform necessary adjustments or repairs proactively.
- Safely transport materials and equipment to and from various job sites, ensuring compliance with all transport regulations.
- Maintain an impeccably clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored, maintained, and cared for after each use.
- Provide accurate and detailed estimates of materials and labor requirements for prospective projects when requested.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on, verifiable experience in roof installation, with a strong focus on metal and wood assembly techniques.
- Proven proficiency in accurately reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and detailed construction drawings.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of various roofing materials and their specific installation methodologies.
- Ability to safely and competently use and maintain a comprehensive variety of hand and power tools commonly utilized in roofing.
- Strong, comprehensive understanding of all health and safety regulations pertinent to the construction and roofing industries.
- Excellent physical stamina, capability to lift and maneuver heavy materials, and comfort working at significant heights in diverse weather conditions.
- Valid UK driving license with a clean record is essential.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and an unwavering attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Roofing Occupations or a closely related trade.
- A valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or an equivalent certification.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Demonstrable experience with specialized roofing machinery or advanced equipment.
- Proven experience in successfully leading small teams or effectively mentoring junior installers.
