As an Early Morning Route Driver, you will be the initial touchpoint for many of our clients, navigating the quiet pre-dawn streets of Toronto to deliver a wide array of goods to various destinations. Your day will begin with a thorough preparation of your company vehicle, including essential safety checks, careful loading and securing of your cargo, and meticulous planning of your assigned route. We trust our drivers to manage their time effectively, adhere strictly to delivery schedules, and maintain the highest standards of safety and professionalism at all times. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety standards are met and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Safely and efficiently load, unload, and secure goods, verifying order accuracy against manifest documents.
- Navigate assigned routes in the Hillcrest Village and broader Toronto area during early morning hours, adhering to delivery schedules and traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and documentation (e.g., proof of delivery, mileage, fuel usage).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers (where applicable), and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, always prioritizing road safety and cargo integrity.
- Represent Hiring.zycto professionally and courteously at all delivery points.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and transportation regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid G Class Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving abstract.
- Proven ability to operate a commercial vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to meet tight early morning schedules.
- Excellent attention to detail for verifying loads and documentation.
- Physical capability to lift, push, and pull packages up to 50 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on the road.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of professional driving or delivery experience in an urban setting.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Experience with handheld scanning devices for package tracking.
- Knowledge of Toronto and GTA road networks.
- Customer service experience, even if indirect, in a delivery role.
