Job Description
Hiring.zycto is thrilled to be seeking experienced and enthusiastic Sailors with a strong focus on Navigation and Crew Assistance to fill critical roles within our esteemed client network. As a Sailor, you will be an integral part of a vessel’s operational team, contributing directly to safe passage, efficient operations, and the overall well-being of the crew. This role demands a high level of responsibility, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to maritime safety protocols and regulations. You will work closely with officers and other crew members, assisting in various aspects of navigation, watchkeeping, vessel maintenance, and general deck duties. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the navigating officer in watchkeeping duties, including lookout, helmsmanship, and maintaining navigational records.
- Conduct routine checks, maintenance, and upkeep of deck equipment, navigational instruments, and safety gear.
- Participate in mooring, unmooring, anchoring, and cargo handling operations, ensuring all procedures are followed safely and efficiently.
- Perform general deck duties such as cleaning, painting, chipping, and lubrication to maintain the vessel's good order and appearance.
- Actively participate in safety drills, emergency preparedness procedures, and fire fighting exercises.
- Ensure strict adherence to all maritime regulations, company policies, and international safety management (ISM) code requirements.
- Provide general assistance to other crew members and departments as required, fostering a collaborative and supportive onboard environment.
- Report any defects, damage, or concerns regarding the vessel or equipment promptly to the superior officer.
- Undergo continuous training and development to enhance skills and stay updated with the latest maritime practices and technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in basic seamanship, including knot tying, splicing, and rope work.
- Demonstrated experience in watchkeeping and steering.
- Understanding of basic navigational principles and aids.
- Completion of STCW Basic Safety Training (Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Valid ENG1 Medical Certificate or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holder of an Able Seaman (AB) Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience on various types of vessels (e.g., cargo, passenger, offshore support).
- Familiarity with GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) equipment.
- Additional maritime certifications such as Advanced Fire Fighting, Medical First Aid, or Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
- A keen interest in continuous learning and professional development within the maritime sector.
