Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and reliable Part-Time School Bus Drivers to join our team in Newtonbrook West, Toronto. This is a crucial role within our community, directly contributing to the safe and punctual transportation of students to and from school. As a School Bus Driver, you will be the first and last point of contact for many children each day, playing a vital role in setting a positive tone for their educational experience. Your day will typically involve morning and afternoon routes, providing you with a flexible schedule ideal for those seeking meaningful part-time employment. You will be responsible for conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your assigned vehicle, ensuring it meets all safety standards before and after each route. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport students to and from school and other designated locations following established routes and schedules.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the school bus, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road signs, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage student behavior on the bus in a safe and appropriate manner, in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, school personnel, and supervisors.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork, including mileage logs, student rosters, and incident reports, accurately and on time.
  • Attend all mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Be prepared to assist students with special needs, including wheelchair securement, as required.
  • Operate the bus in varying weather conditions, always prioritizing safety.

Required Skills

  • Valid Ontario Class B or E driver's license with Z endorsement (or ability to obtain).
  • Clean driving record (Driver's Abstract required).
  • Strong understanding of road safety and traffic laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, calm demeanor, and ability to handle unexpected situations.
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
  • Physical ability to perform pre-trip inspections, operate emergency exits, and assist students as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a school bus driver or in a similar professional driving role.
  • Experience working with children of various age groups.
  • Knowledge of Toronto and surrounding areas.
