Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and review actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and capital management.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis and statistical investigations to identify trends and assess risk.
  • Prepare detailed actuarial reports, analyses, and presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of new insurance products and the enhancement of existing ones.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and actuarial standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (underwriting, finance, product, IT) on various projects.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior actuarial staff, fostering their professional growth.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of actuarial processes and methodologies.
  • Research emerging actuarial techniques, industry trends, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in actuarial modeling software (e.g., GGY AXIS, Prophet, MoSes).
  • Advanced statistical analysis and data manipulation skills (SQL, R, Python).
  • Deep understanding of insurance products, principles, and risk management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into clear business insights for diverse audiences.
  • Proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with a strategic mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all analytical work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for advanced data handling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) or Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
  • Experience with IFRS 17 implementation and financial reporting standards.
  • Project management experience, particularly in actuarial or financial projects.
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment or across diverse lines of business (P&C, Life, Health).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present insights effectively.
