Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in IT to join our dedicated team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, driving efficiency and innovation within our operational landscape, particularly in projects related to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights initiatives. You will be responsible for leading complex analysis, eliciting requirements, and facilitating communication across diverse stakeholder groups, ensuring the successful delivery of IT projects that align with strategic objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your analytical prowess and leadership skills to make a tangible impact on projects that celebrate human rights and contribute to significant cultural initiatives.

The Senior Business Analyst will play a crucial role in understanding and documenting business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and translating complex business requirements into detailed functional and non-functional specifications for development teams. You will work closely with project managers, solution architects, developers, and end-users to ensure that technical solutions meet business expectations and are delivered on time and within budget. Your expertise will be vital in guiding stakeholders through the solution design process, performing rigorous testing, and supporting change management activities. If you are a proactive problem-solver with a passion for driving technological advancements and a commitment to excellence, we encourage you to apply and help us shape the future of our impactful projects. This role demands a critical thinker who can navigate complex systems and contribute significantly to our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and interviews with diverse stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear, concise, and actionable specifications.
  • Perform in-depth business process analysis, identify bottlenecks, and propose innovative solutions to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create comprehensive documentation including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), use cases, user stories, process flows, and data models.
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams (developers, architects, QA) to ensure that proposed solutions are technically feasible, scalable, and align with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business units and IT, facilitating effective communication and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and post-implementation validation to ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.
  • Support change management activities, including training development and delivery, to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior business analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to recommend innovative solutions and improvements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 5 years in a senior capacity within IT projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex issues into manageable components.
  • Expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management using various methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency with business analysis tools and techniques (e.g., UML, BPMN, user stories, use cases).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and workshops effectively.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and collaboration tools.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis) certification.

  • Familiarity with data analytics, reporting tools, and database concepts.
