Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care, assisting residents with personal hygiene, dressing, mobility, and feeding, whilst promoting independence.
- Administer prescribed medication accurately and in accordance with company policies and CQC guidelines.
- Lead and supervise a team of Care Assistants during your shift, delegating tasks and providing guidance and support.
- Develop, implement, and review individualised care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and detailed care records, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and compliant.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, their families, and external healthcare professionals.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid when necessary and escalating concerns to senior staff.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assist with social activities and promote engagement to enhance residents' quality of life.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Senior Care Assistant or similar role
- Valid medication administration training certificate
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care
- Thorough understanding of CQC regulations and best practices in adult social care
- Enhanced DBS check clearance (or willingness to obtain one)
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid First Aid certificate
- Experience with electronic care planning systems
- Driving licence with access to own vehicle
- Additional professional development courses relevant to elder care or specific health conditions
