Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer with a valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license to join our expanding team in Downsview, Toronto. This pivotal role involves leading the planning, design, and execution of diverse civil engineering projects, ranging from large-scale municipal infrastructure upgrades and transportation networks to significant land development initiatives. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of projects from conception through to completion, adhering to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will leverage your extensive experience to solve complex engineering challenges, develop innovative design solutions, and manage project teams effectively.
Your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, environmental specialists, structural engineers, and construction crews. This role demands a strong leader capable of guiding junior engineers, reviewing technical submissions, and acting as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and project management of civil engineering projects, including municipal infrastructure, site servicing, storm water management, and transportation.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior engineers and project teams.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and client relationships are maintained.
- Conduct site inspections, assessments, and investigations to support design development and construction supervision.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, developing effective solutions to unforeseen challenges.
- Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
- Ensure all work adheres to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.
Required Skills
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Ontario, in good standing.
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure, municipal, or land development projects.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, StormCAD, WaterCAD).
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
- Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code, municipal standards, and relevant environmental regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations, and client interaction.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor project teams effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build).
- Familiarity with GIS applications and their integration into civil engineering projects.
