Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Interior Designer specializing in commercial projects to join our growing team in Bendale, Toronto. This pivotal role requires a creative visionary with a robust portfolio of commercial design, capable of leading complex projects from concept through to successful completion. You will be instrumental in developing innovative design solutions that are not only aesthetically compelling but also highly functional, compliant with regulations, and tailored to meet our clients’ strategic business objectives.
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and implementing interior design solutions for a diverse range of commercial spaces, including corporate offices, retail environments, hospitality venues, and healthcare facilities. This involves a deep understanding of space planning, material selection, furniture specifications, lighting design, and branding integration. You will collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors, ensuring seamless project execution and maintaining clear communication channels throughout the design process. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage commercial interior design projects from initial concept development to final installation, ensuring successful project delivery.
- Develop comprehensive design concepts, space plans, material palettes, and furniture selections that align with client needs and project goals.
- Prepare detailed design presentations, including renderings, mood boards, and specifications, for client review and approval.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants (architects, engineers), contractors, and vendors to ensure design intent is realized.
- Oversee all phases of design documentation, including construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers, fostering their professional growth and contributing to team development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and technologies to integrate innovative solutions into projects.
- Participate in business development activities, including client pitches and proposal preparation, as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in commercial interior design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Strong understanding of building codes, accessibility standards, and construction practices.
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of commercial design, from programming and space planning to construction administration.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to lead projects, manage budgets, and meet tight deadlines.
- Portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of commercial design principles and successful project execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
- NCIDQ certification or provincial equivalent (e.g., ARIDO, IDC).
