Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Sheet Metal Helper. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity for those looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the skilled trades, specifically in sheet metal fabrication and installation, without prior experience. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive on-the-job training, mentorship, and a clear path for advancement, potentially leading to an apprenticeship. As a Sheet Metal Helper, you will work closely with our experienced journeymen and skilled fabricators, learning the foundational aspects of the trade in a dynamic and supportive environment. Your primary role will be to assist with various tasks that are crucial to the successful completion of projects, ensuring efficiency and safety at all times. This includes preparing materials, organizing tools, maintaining a tidy workspace, and actively participating in the learning process. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled sheet metal workers and journeymen with various tasks on the job site or in the shop.
  • Handle, transport, and organize materials, tools, and equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, adhering to all company safety protocols.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools under direct supervision, following proper operating procedures.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders as instructed.
  • Participate actively in on-the-job training sessions, asking questions and demonstrating a willingness to learn.
  • Perform general labour duties as required to support the team and project timelines.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn a skilled trade.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and a commitment to personal and team safety.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Toronto Waterfront work location, ensuring punctuality.
  • Positive attitude, strong team player mentality, and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Any previous experience in a construction, manufacturing, or hands-on environment (even if not sheet metal related).
  • Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
