Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking highly motivated, ethical, and dedicated individuals to join our integral team as a Sheriff – Enforcement, based in the vibrant community of New Toronto, Toronto. This pivotal role is fundamental to upholding the integrity and smooth operation of Ontario’s justice system, directly contributing to public safety and community well-being. As a Sheriff, you will be entrusted with a broad spectrum of responsibilities crucial to supporting the courts and serving the community. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain security, order, and decorum within courtrooms and judicial facilities.
- Safely and securely transport prisoners to and from correctional facilities, courtrooms, and other locations as required.
- Execute court orders, warrants of committal, writs of seizure, and other legal documents with precision and adherence to established procedures.
- Serve legal documents, including summonses, subpoenas, and orders, ensuring proper protocol is followed.
- Provide security for judges, court staff, and the public during court proceedings and within court premises.
- Respond effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and disturbances within court facilities.
- Conduct property seizures and sales in accordance with legal mandates.
- Liaise and collaborate with police services, correctional services, and other law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare comprehensive reports, and manage case files.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, including restraints, defensive tactics equipment, and communication devices.
- Adhere strictly to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Courts of Justice Act and the Ministry of the Solicitor General guidelines.
Required Skills
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and tact.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and negotiation abilities.
- High level of physical fitness and ability to successfully complete physical demands tests.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial statutes, regulations, and legal procedures (e.g., Courts of Justice Act, Criminal Code).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage stressful situations.
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, including criminal record check and security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in Law Enforcement, Criminology, Police Foundations, or a related field.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, security services, or a correctional environment.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
- Experience with justice information systems and databases.
- Familiarity with the geographical area of Toronto and surrounding regions.
