Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our bustling Cargo & Logistics Processing team in Streetly, Birmingham. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and process shipping and receiving documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to schedule shipments and ensure timely deliveries.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other logistics software to track inventory, update shipment statuses, and generate reports.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, delivery notes, and shipping documents.
- Assist in the proper labeling, packaging, and staging of goods for dispatch, adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to shipments, such as damaged goods, missing items, or incorrect addresses.
- Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems for all shipping and receiving records.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment statuses and potential delays.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and international shipping compliance standards.
- Operate basic material handling equipment if required (e.g., pallet jacks) and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics/warehouse role.
- Strong understanding of shipping and receiving procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with WMS/logistics software.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
- Experience with international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Forklift certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck) is a plus.
- Previous experience in a freight forwarding or cargo environment.
