Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, packing lists, and commercial invoices for both domestic and international shipments.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing items against invoices, orders, and other records.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, couriers, and trucking companies to schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation.
- Inspect shipments for damages or discrepancies; report any issues immediately and assist in resolving shipping and receiving errors.
- Maintain organised records of all shipping activities, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmations, and dispatch logs.
- Utilise inventory management systems to track goods, update stock levels, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Assist in the proper packing, labelling, and preparation of goods for shipment, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., sales, customer service, warehouse) regarding shipment status and potential delays.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant shipping regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) as needed for moving and organising shipments.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role.
- Proficiency in using shipping software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with a strong ability to multitask.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures and regulations.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 25 kg and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cargo or freight forwarding environment.
- Familiarity with specific customs documentation and international trade compliance.
- Forklift operator certification (Reach/Counterbalance).
- A qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
