Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team in Barry, Cardiff. This pivotal role is at the heart of our cargo and logistics processing operations, ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of goods from our facility to destinations worldwide. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be instrumental in managing shipping documentation, coordinating with various departments, and maintaining meticulous records crucial for regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, and customs declarations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff for accurate picking, packing, and labeling of outbound shipments.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and inspect for damages or discrepancies.
  • Schedule freight pickups with various carriers and track shipment statuses.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records, both physical and digital.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, clients, and freight forwarders regarding shipment status and issues.
  • Assist in resolving shipping discrepancies, damages, and delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all national and international shipping regulations and company policies.
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment if certified (training may be provided).
  • Perform inventory counts and assist with stock reconciliation as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a shipping, receiving, or logistics role.
  • Proficiency with shipping software and basic computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 25 kg.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping regulations.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • GCSEs or equivalent in English and Math.
