As a Signal Person, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the movement of heavy equipment, vehicles, and personnel within designated work zones. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the absolute safety of all workers, equipment operators, and the general public by providing clear, concise, and accurate hand signals and verbal commands. This role is paramount in preventing accidents and maintaining smooth, uninterrupted operations, particularly in high-traffic or complex environments like a busy ferry terminal.

No prior experience as a Signal Person is required for this role. We are looking for individuals who are committed to learning, possess a strong sense of responsibility, and are dedicated to adhering to stringent safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply standard hand signals and verbal commands to guide heavy equipment operators safely.
  • Maintain constant visual contact with equipment operators and other personnel within the work zone.
  • Monitor surrounding areas for potential hazards, unauthorized personnel, or changing conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and other team members to ensure coordinated movements.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Participate actively in all required training and safety briefings.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or near-misses immediately to the supervisor.
  • Assist in site setup and breakdown, including barrier placement and traffic control when required.
  • Understand and interpret site-specific safety plans and operational guidelines.
