Hiring.zycto is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated Site Foreman with a strong focus on labour management and safety to join our expanding team in Manchester, England. This critical role involves overseeing daily site operations from inception to completion, ensuring projects adhere to strict timelines, budget constraints, and the highest possible quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will be the direct link between project management strategies and on-site execution, responsible for coordinating various trades, effectively managing diverse labour resources, and maintaining an impeccable safety record across all activities. You will be instrumental in translating project plans into actionable daily tasks, scheduling work efficiently, conducting regular toolbox talks, and implementing robust safety protocols to proactively prevent incidents and maintain a zero-harm culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate all on-site labour, including subcontractors, ensuring efficient resource allocation and productivity.
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce rigorous health and safety standards and procedures, conducting regular site inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and company quality standards.
  • Liaise effectively with Project Managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to communicate progress and resolve issues.
  • Prepare daily progress reports, manage site logistics, and maintain accurate records of materials, equipment, and labour.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct site inductions for new personnel and ensure ongoing training and awareness of safety protocols.
  • Resolve on-site conflicts or issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Order and manage materials and equipment, ensuring availability when required while minimizing waste.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar leadership role in construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Excellent labour management and coordination skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices (e.g., SMSTS or SSSTS certification).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in basic construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Construction Site Supervision or a related field.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience with concrete frames, groundworks, or civils projects.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • A proactive approach to site management and problem-solving.
