This critical role involves overseeing daily site operations, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise daily on-site operations, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity among the construction team.
- Allocate tasks and direct construction labour, ensuring optimal resource utilization and strict adherence to project timelines.
- Implement and rigorously enforce all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and lead daily toolbox talks, promptly addressing any potential hazards or non-compliance issues.
- Monitor work progress against schedules, identify potential delays or issues, and implement effective corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Ensure quality control standards are met for all construction activities, materials, and finishes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and timely delivery.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive site records, including daily logs, incident reports, progress updates, and attendance records.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to junior staff and operatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.
- Manage site logistics, including efficient material deliveries, precise equipment movement, and proper waste management according to environmental guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar leadership role in construction (minimum 5 years).
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, and UK health and safety regulations (including CDM regulations).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, direct, and manage a diverse workforce effectively.
- Strong understanding and unwavering commitment to health and safety best practices on a construction site.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for liaising with various stakeholders.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficiency in basic site administration and meticulous record-keeping.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisive, informed judgments under pressure.
- Valid full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Site Supervision/Management or an equivalent construction-related qualification.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- First Aid at Work qualification (valid and current).
- CSCS Card (Gold or Black).
- Experience with various construction project types (e.g., residential, commercial, civil engineering).
