Key Responsibilities
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other building materials to construct or repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and to plan sequences of tasks.
- Ensure all work adheres to architectural plans, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Mix mortar and other compounds according to specifications, ensuring proper consistency and application.
- Cut and trim bricks using hand and power tools to fit spaces and create aesthetically pleasing finishes.
- Inspect and clean finished work, ensuring high standards of quality and appearance.
- Operate various construction equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Collaborate effectively with site managers, other tradespeople, and team members to ensure project milestones are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a skilled bricklayer with a demonstrable portfolio of work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of bricklaying techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Excellent manual dexterity, precision, and attention to detail.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks and lift heavy materials.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bricklaying or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
- Experience working on heritage or conservation projects.
- Full UK driving licence.
- First Aid certification.
